Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly rap tracks that tackled sexual identity and race with a boldly comedic perspective before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese as well as Korean parents who hail from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was the first instrument she played for her. After classical and Jazz training her interest in hip-hop grew as a teen. In her studies, she studied journalism as well as women's studies at college, even studying Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. The focus changed towards music after she completed her degree. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. This album also featured popular hits that went viral, such as body positive Queef or winking hometown tour New York Bitche$. The latter song was linked directly into another venture Awkwafina's NYC a travel guide published in 2015. The resume of her included author and musician. The singer was seeking to further her career in acting. Alongside early TV shows, such Girl Code and Tawk - she was in films Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role in the year 2018 when she appeared in a number of notable films like Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP, in Fina We Trust in June of that year.
